James Burt Olney, 82, died October 5 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was born in New York City, NY the son of the late Burt Cady and Edith Salisbury Olney. Mr. Olney was a graduate of the University of Virginia with a BA degree and was a retired executive from General Foods, Inc. after 37 years of Service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in WWII and was discharged as a Lieutenant jg.He was an Elder of Skidaway Island Presbyterian where he was very active in church affairs for 18 years.
Survivors: his wife of 56 years, Mary Scully Olney of Savannah; children, James B. Olney and Andrew G. Olney, both of Seattle, WA, Cady Shoutis of Lander, WY, David N. Olney of Moss Beach, CA, Margaret S. Olney of Portland, OR; and nine grandchildren.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 10 at Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church with Dr. James Black officiating. A reception will follow in Liston Hall.
