Taught 40 years in Fort LeBoeuf schools
Mary Gertrude Browning Gray, 85, 11467 Route 19 North, Waterford,died Friday, June 19, 1998, at Forestview Nursing Center.
She was born July 19, 1912, in Connellsville, daughter of the late Hugh and Catherine O'Connell Browning.
Mrs. Gray was a teacher in the Fort LeBoeuf School District for 40 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, St. Cyprian Roman Catholic Church and the Third Order of St. Francis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvanus Thompson Gray, in 1967; two daughters, Jenevive Ralston and Geraldine Golombieski; a son, Samuel Gray; a sister, Katherine Browning; and two brothers, Francis and Eugene Browning.
She is survived by two daughters, Madelon Dale of Lodi, Calif., and Gloria Angel of Pittsburgh; a son, Francis Gray of Waterford; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass was to be celebrated at St. Cyprian Church earlier today.
Burial will be at Waterford Cemetery.
